When I survey the Wondrous Cross

When I survey the wondrous cross
on which the Prince of Glory died;
my richest gain I count but loss,
and pour contempt on all my pride.

Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
save in the death of Christ, my God;
all the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to his blood.

See, from his head, his hands, his feet,
sorrow and love flow mingled down.
Did e'er such love and sorrow meet,
or thorns compose so rich a crown.

Were the whole realm of nature mine,
that were an offering far too small;
love so amazing, so divine,
demands my soul, my life, my all.

Lyrics by Isaac Watts 1674-1748

As Easter approaches let's put our focus on Jesus's work on the cross. Where the one debt we could never repay was paid in full through His act as a servant and His love(unconditional)that he was willing to give us while we were yet in sin. As we aspire to grow closer to the heart of God we should be in rememberance of the heart that was willing to break so that we would not suffer the sorrows of hell but have eternal life in heaven through Him. AMEN!

Man of No Reputation

It was said this man was of no reputation
Yet He could stop the rising storm
With a gesture of His hand
But He chose to use His hands to heal
Hearts of darkness, hearts of stone
Just like mine would be revealed
He was a man of no reputation
And by the wise, considered a fool
When He spoke about faith and forgiveness
In a time when the strongest arms ruled
But this man of no reputation
Loved the weak with relentless affection
And He loved all those poor in spirit just as they were
He was a man of no reputation
It was said this man brought only confusion
That He'd achieve his ends by any means
And the truth that it brings revolution
And for once they were right
The truth set us free
The hearts of the captive were his only concern
And the powerful knew their days were ending
One day soon the gates of heaven will open wide
And the Prince of Peace will come back for His bride
But for now we live on these streets
Forbidding and tough
Where push always comes to shove
And it's said love's never enough
Where a prophet in rags gives hope to a fearful world
No injustice, no heart of darkness
Will keep this voice from being heard
But this man of no reputation
Loves us all with relentless affection
And He loves all those poor in spirit, come as you are
To the man of no reputation

LYRICS BY RICK ELIAS

PHIL 2:7 8

Jesus made himself a man of no reputation he pointed to scripture and to God the father as the foundation for his thoughts. He didnt exalt himself he exalted God. In todays society it easy to get caught up in the vanity of titles, trophies, and worldly prestige. We need to be mindful however that when we pass away from this life all those trophies, titles and the amount of prestige the world has given us wont matter. It will matter how we lived. As children of God we should follow Jesus example and live as children of no reputation. We aught to love the lost and the poor in spirit as Jesus did with relentless affection. For those who havent surrendered to God the cross is an invitation to come as you are to the man of no reputation He was willing to suffer and die so that you could be free from the whiles of the devil. There is freedom to be found in the blood of Jesus that was spilled at the cross. Here is a prayer you can pray if you choose to allow Jesus in to your heart. Into my heart, into my heart, come into my heart, Lord Jesus. Come in today. Come in to stay. Come into my heart, Lord Jesus.
